A100 Appraisal
What A100 collateral is worth now, and when your loan matures.
What it's worth
A used HGX A100 8x80GB node sold for $95,200 in the October 2026 Rack Report, +40% against the value of its parts. Six years after launch, the A100 is still on contract: CoreWeave disclosed an A100 contract running into 2029.
Our data
| Figure | Value | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Used HGX A100 8x80GB node | $95,200 | $11,900 per GPU; +40% vs the sum of its parts. October 2026 Rack Report, data through August 2026. |
| Used HGX A100 8x40GB node | $59,100 | $7,400 per GPU; +43% vs the sum of its parts. October 2026 Rack Report, data through August 2026. |
| Used A100 80GB SXM, typical realized sale | $5,400 | 25th percentile $4,875; dealer ask $5,502 (1.02x realized); liquidity B; limited sample. October 2026 Rack Report, data through August 2026. |
| Used A100 40GB, typical realized sale | $3,207 | 25th percentile $2,200; dealer ask $9,445 (2.95x realized); liquidity C; limited sample. October 2026 Rack Report, data through August 2026. |
| A100 SXM: rental-implied value vs realized | 0.66x | Rent of $1.82 per GPU-hour implies $63,263 per node; nodes sold for $95,200. October 2026 Rack Report, data through August 2026. |

What moves A100 collateral value
Sell it whole. A complete HGX A100 80GB node traded +40% above the sum of its parts and the 40GB node +43%. Buyers of older GPUs want a tested, working system, so parting out an A100 cluster gives up a large share of its value.
Asks run far ahead of sales. Dealers asked 2.95x the realized price for A100 40GB cards and 1.02x for 80GB SXM. On an A100 deal the gap between a listing-based value and a sale-based one is larger than on any newer GPU we track.
The use-case ladder keeps it working. Older GPUs move from training to inference, research and smaller jobs before they are sold for parts, and our report marks the A100 as running past its expected life on current AI demand. CoreWeave said in August 2026 that it signed an A100 contract into 2029; the rate and customer were not disclosed.
Rents now imply less than sales. Capitalizing A100 rents gives a node value 0.66x its realized price. The A100's value rests on scarcity of working systems and on air-cooled, 400 W GPUs that fit any data center, not on rental income.
No forward bands, so shorter terms
Our residual report publishes forward bands for B300, B200, H200 and H100 only. For an A100 we value on realized prices today and keep the projection short. Production of A100 boards ended in 2024 according to partner end-of-life notices, so there is no new supply to reset prices and no new-price anchor.
What a report flags
| Severity | Finding |
|---|---|
| High | Recovery plan assumes the cluster is sold by component; whole-node sales realized materially more in the latest Rack Report. |
| Medium | Term runs to 2029; value beyond 24 months rests on contract renewal, not on a published residual band. |
| Low | Configuration is a standard HGX A100 8x80GB; no exotic networking. |
