Data center tax exemption in Connecticut
Connecticut qualified data center tax incentive agreements (CGS 32-286, P.A. 21-1)
Under an agreement with DECD, a qualified data center and its contractors may be exempt from sales and use tax on qualified data center equipment, related services, and all electricity used, plus local property tax under a host municipality fee agreement, for 20 years (30 years at $200M in an enterprise or opportunity zone, or $400M elsewhere) if it invests at least $50M in an enterprise or federal opportunity zone or $200M elsewhere within five years; no jobs minimum or application deadline is stated.
Recent change: 2026 SB 245, which would have barred new applications from July 1, 2026, did not advance past the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee (last action March 23, 2026).
