What the data shows

The strongest Utah counties for a large AI load are Millard County (80), Salt Lake County (66) and Utah County (64) on the site score. Utah sits in utility territory; EIA lists 3.8 GW of planned generators there, and it has 28 substations at 345 kV and up.

Industrial power averaged 8.6¢/kWh (EIA, July 2026 YTD), against 8.2¢/kWh a year earlier, the 23rd lowest of the 50 states and DC. Utah has a data center sales and use tax exemption in force. We track 3 AI campuses and 13 GPU-ready colocation facilities here.
