Residual value
Residual value is what an asset is worth at a future date, usually the end of a loan or lease term, expressed in dollars or as a percentage of its original cost. For GPUs it is the expected resale price on the secondary market at that date.

How it works
A forecast, so check the data under it. Our GPU Residual Value Report 2026 uses arm’s-length sales only: no asking prices, no rental rates, no appraisal indices.
Bands, not a single curve. The report publishes a conservative, moderate and dangerous band for each model and year, as a share of original MSRP.
One number, three jobs. For the lender it is the worst case that sets the advance rate; for the lessor it is booked into the lease on day one; for equity it is the return after the debt is repaid.
What lenders check
Defaults and weak resale markets come together. The residual a lender needs is the one it will get in a bad year, which is why the report suggests lessors sit at the conservative end, lenders slightly above, and equity investors at the most aggressive end.
A residual can be insured. Residual value insurance puts an insured floor under the resale value at covered dates, subject to the policy terms.
