GPU insurance questions

Does my data center’s insurance cover my servers?
No. The facility’s policy covers its building and infrastructure. Equipment in your cage is your risk, which is why colocation and hosting agreements require you to carry your own property coverage and show a certificate before equipment is energized.
My contract says EDP, inland marine, or all-risk. Are those different policies?
No. They are different names for the same coverage when applied to servers: your scheduled equipment at a named location, insured at replacement cost against any cause of loss the policy does not specifically exclude.
Can leased GPUs be insured by the lessee?
Yes, and most leases require it. The lessor is named as loss payee, and the lease usually sets the minimum insured value.
How fast can I get a certificate?
Typically two to four weeks from the time we have your equipment list and the facility’s details. If you have a hard deadline, tell us on the form and we will work to it.
My colocation contract requires commercial insurance before I can install. What do I actually need?
Almost always two things: property coverage on your own equipment at replacement cost, and general liability naming the facility as additional insured. Workers’ compensation, business interruption, and cyber are often listed but rarely enforced when you have no staff on site. Send us the clause and we will tell you what is required and what is optional.
Do I need to give the insurer anything about the facility?
Yes. Underwriters price the building as much as the hardware: construction, fire detection and suppression, security, power. Most data centers keep a one-page property fact sheet for exactly this. Ask for it as soon as you sign, because getting it is usually the slowest part of a placement.
Can you cover modular or micro data centers?
Usually. Containerized and modular deployments can be scheduled like any other location. Sites without conventional fire protection or on off-grid power price differently, so tell us the setup and we will confirm what the markets will write.
Is my deployment too small?
We have placed schedules under $1M. Below roughly that level, carrier minimum premiums can make a policy expensive relative to the value insured. We will tell you up front if that applies.
