American Compute is a GPU finance platform that brings together funders and borrowers. We work with private credit funds, equipment finance lenders, and the operators they finance.
We have supported more than $600 million in financing across North America, Asia, and Europe, from appraisals to investment-grade backstops. Our work draws on more than 600,000 data points on hardware pricing and depreciation.
Leadership
- Bernie Margulies, Chief Executive Officer
- Bernie leads the American Compute program and its relationships with reinsurers and capacity managers. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and is a candidate for the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI). He previously held senior roles at venture-backed insurance and technology companies, with a background in technology investment and underwriting for emerging asset classes.
- Brenden Reeves, Chief Operating Officer
- Brenden leads operations and research. He was previously a machine learning consultant to several Fortune 500 companies and built enterprise data platforms. His research background includes distributed machine learning for high-energy physics at CERN.
- Illia Kasian, Chief Technology Officer
- Illia leads engineering. He was previously a founding engineer at a Y Combinator-backed insurance carrier and a machine learning engineer building fraud detection systems at scale, with experience across insurance and defense technology.

Licensing and disclosures
Insurance solutions under the American Compute program are placed by Matcha Specialty Insurance Services (Matcha Specialty LLC), 1160 Battery Street East, Suite 100, San Francisco, CA 94111, licensed by the California Department of Insurance as a surplus lines broker and a property and casualty broker-agent, License No. 6018236. American Compute is the name of the program Matcha Specialty operates. Matcha Specialty is not an insurer. Where an insurer has delegated underwriting authority to it, Matcha Specialty underwrites, prices, and binds coverage within that authority; otherwise the insurer makes those decisions. Matcha Specialty does not publish its capacity providers; you receive the issuing insurer's legal name, financial strength rating, and domicile on every quote and binder before anything is signed.
Covered claims are the obligation of the issuing insurer under the policy. References on this site to investment-grade reinsurance describe support for that insurer; reinsurance does not by itself give a policyholder a right to payment from any reinsurer.
Surplus lines notice. Some coverages, including residual value insurance solutions, are placed with nonadmitted (surplus lines) insurers. A nonadmitted insurer is not licensed by the California Department of Insurance, is not subject to the financial solvency regulation and enforcement that apply to California-licensed insurers, and does not participate in the insurance guarantee funds created by California law, so those funds will not pay claims or protect your assets if the insurer becomes insolvent. Matcha Specialty provides the surplus lines disclosures required by law with each such placement.
